This song was written by Alicia around the time that I finished writing ‘Didn’t Wanna Go’.

“In September 2020 Robert and I parted ways for visa purposes. It was unclear at that point whether we would be away from each other for just a short time or indefinitely. Before Robert dropped me at the ferry in Liverpool we sang the folk song ‘The Leaving of Liverpool’ (though we both know different versions). It was a pleasant way to distract ourselves from the unavoidable, impending, departure. I started writing the song as soon as the ferry left port. After almost a year apart, the song has definitely gained meaning for us.”
