The life of a touring musician is often romanticized, rolling out endless wild nights on the road, with the dark underbelly conveniently forgotten.

It transports you to a beloved dive bar, the soft glow of neon lights, the feeling of swaying in someone’s arms by the jukebox.
It's a story about good times gone bad and the intoxicating dance of self-destruction as we find our way back to self-love.
This is the fourth glimpse into our upcoming album, 'Over Again,' due out on May 1st, 2026. We recorded "Sweet and the Burn" at three places that feel like home: our tinyhouse in the pine forest of Chapel Hill, Betty's (also in Chapel Hill, North Caroina), and Alma Vale Studio in Bristol, UK.
We wanted to blend the familiar grit of artists like Neil Young and Johnny Cash with the haunting edge of modern contemporaries like Charlie Crockett, Lucinda Williams, and Orville Peck.
This song isn't just a story, it’s a conversation with the voice in the back of your mind. The one that whispers a warning when you're flirting with something dangerous.
As Robert says, it's about going deep into your own psyche and hearing a message from your subconscious.
The lyrics say it best: "The sweet comes with the burn."
